I enjoyed the Grizzlies' season tremendously. And that's truly an understatement.
With about a third of the way to go, and the best player down for the count, I found myself discounting any possibility for your gritty guys to see postseason action.
And then it began to happen...
First, the Spurs.
Had to be luck
Then the Mavericks, followed shortly by the Thunder.
Wait a minute here. There just might be something to this group of misfits with an understated coach
And it kept happening; Boston, San Antonio again, and twice to New Orleans. I was convinced. This team was going places. And, oh my, were they fun to watch at work!
Such grit! Such determination!
They never gave up, not even when the meager crowd had begun filing out, dreaming of glory years for an other certain basketball team in town.
By the end of the regular season I was fully on board, ready for the slaying of a giant, the death of a dynasty.
And, man, was it one helluva ride!
I was so moved by this team this season I found myself still thinking about individual plays, replaying the emotion, the passion, the resolve and relentless pursuit of it all in my head at the most random of times.
I had to pay tribute somehow, let it out, let it be known that this team did indeed do something very special. So without further ado I give you the Memphis Grizzlies season.
In a single picture.
