The Memphis Grizzlies lost their 12th straight season opener, falling to the Clippers, 101-92.
It was a hard-fought game, with about two dozen stare-downs, a Blake Griffin throw-down and a near mid-court riot, courtesy of Ryan Hollins. But, the Grizzlies, known for their toughness, were out-Grizzlied by the Clippers, losing 101-92.
Zach Randolph played tough, but had a terrible shooting night, going 5-of-15 from the floor, including a few misses at the rim. He finished the game with a - 25 (+/-), which is dreadful.
The Grizzlies also forced 22 turnovers, which is great, but coughed the ball up themselves some 18 times.
The Grizzlies managed just 17 points off the bench to the Clippers 49 bench points.
As a team, the Grizzlies shot 38% from the floor, while the Clippers shot 51%. You can't win games when you're not making threes and shooting under 40% from the floor; while your opponent is shooting 50-plus. It just can't be done.
Here's the game, by the numbers:
