The Grizzlies beat the Mavs tonight in Memphis and held the white-hot OJ Mayo to 10 points. Oh, and poetry!
Good evening, Griz Nation. Tonight the Grizzlies beat the Dallas Mavericks 92–82 in a game that saw O.J. Mayo returning to Memphis for his first game in a Dallas uniform. Tony Allen was in the game every time Mayo was, and Allen saw to it that Mayo will have nightmares about returning to Memphis for years to come, holding Mayo to 10 points on 11 shots in 35 minutes of playing time. After the game, coach Lionel Hollins said his plan coming into tonight’s matchup was to put Tony on Mayo every time OJ set foot on the court. Turns out that’s a good plan.
Rudy Gay had 26 points tonight, along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. Zach Randolph had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Mike Conley set the all-time Grizzlies franchise record for assists on his second assist of the game. Marreese Speights had an earth-shattering dunk on the entire Dallas frontcourt, and several other Grizzlies had highlight-reel dunks of their own.

It was a good night in Griz nation, as the streak of wins through defensive intensity and ragged, sloppy offense continued. We'll have a more in-depth look at the action tomorrow.
