Brandon Roy Signs With the Minnesota Timberwolves; Grizzlies Lose Another One

Stay connected for news and updates

If you were hoping that the Grizzlies might make an offer to Brandon Roy this summer, well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, dot-dot-dot...

Roy, according to just about everyone on the Internet, has signed a 2-year, $10 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. There was a time when the Grizzlies were thought to be players in the Roy sweepstakes, but now they're going to once again have to move on -- wait, who's left for us to sign anymore?

The price tag for Roy doesn't seem to be too high, depending on how you feel about giving a player who essentially retired last season due to what was perceived to be a career-ending injury. However, many of the reports coming out of Roy's various workouts seem to read as if he's at least running at about 70-80 percent of his former self. For $5 million per season, that's not a bad gamble.
