NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 12: Actor Justin Timberlake watches Rafael Nadal of Spain play against Novak Djokovic of Serbia during the Men's Final on Day Fifteen of the 2011 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on September 12, 2011 in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. He's hip. He's cool. He's Justin Timberlake, and he's rumored to be part of the local owner ownership group who is signing on with Robert Pera to purchase the Grizzlies.

Details:

Sources with knowledge of the arrangement said Thursday that Timberlake, one of the NBA's most prominent celebrity fans and a Memphis native, has committed to joining Pera's team of minority partners as the sale of the franchise from Michael Heisley to the 34-year-old technology magnate nears completion.

Sources told ESPN.com that Timberlake and Pera have quickly struck up a friendship, with one source adding that the singer/actor is making "a meaningful investment into the team" and "plans to be active" with the Grizzlies.

Lol? I mean, I don't know what to think here. I guess if Jay-Z can provide the Brooklyn Nets with a little swagger, Timberlake is sure to bring (don't do it...)... um, he's sure to bring (I'm warning you, DON'T DO IT....)... he, uh, is probably (DON'T)... going to (I swear if you...)... BRING SEXY BACK!!

YEAH! I did it.

I don't know, I'm pretty excited about this. Having someone like Timberlake as part of the ownership group certainly gives us status. At the very least, we'll have a nice little following among tweens and post-tweeners. That's, cool?
