Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Tyreke Evans is available, and the Grizzlies seem to want him.

According to the Sacramento Bee, the Grizzlies have made a few inquiries on the availability of Tyreke Evans.

Ailene Voisin writes:

The Memphis Grizzlies, who are aggressively attempting to shed payroll and are shopping small forward Rudy Gay, have made inquiries. The Lakers and Denver Nuggets have long been intrigued. So have the Boston Celtics.

Evans has missed 16 games this season due to injury, and has not been able to build off of his highly-impressive rookie campaign, which in part has to do with injuries, but also has to do with the fact that he's yet to really find "his position" in the NBA. Evans has played point guard, small forward and now shooting guard.

The results have been mixed, though he's seeming to be more comfortable playing the '2' guard position.

For the Grizzlies, they've filled the news cycle over the last 72 hours with Rudy Gay trade rumors. Which begs the question: If the Grizzlies want Evans and they're looking to shed Gay's contract, would the Kings be interested in taking on Gay in a package that includes Evans?

Maybe.

The bigger question, now, is that with the Kings pending sale to a Seattle-based investment group, are they willing to take on Gay's contract?

Who knows.
