The Grizzlies announced today that they’ve signed Chris Johnson to another 10-day contract. From the press release:
The Memphis Grizzlies signed guard/forward Chris Johnson to a second 10-day contract, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.
Johnson (6–6, 201) has posted 5.8 points and 1.8 rebounds on .440 shooting (.333 3FG shooting) in 18.4 minutes in five games after signing his first 10-day contract with Memphis on Jan. 23. The 22-year-old rookie scored a career-high 11 points on Jan. 25 vs. Brooklyn.
Johnson’s shooting has been a godsend while the Grizzlies were shorthanded after trading Marreese Speights and Wayne Ellington to the Cavaliers, and he’s earned another 10-day deal. At the end of this 10-day contract, the Grizzlies must sign Johnson for the rest of the season if they wish to keep him.
