Recap: Grizzlies fall in Atlanta

Kevin C. Cox

The Grizzlies lost to the Hawks for the second time this season.

Well that wasn't very fun.

Memphis was fortunate to be only down ten at halftime in Atlanta. The Hawks were not only banging three-pointers but were also playing the game at their tempo. Lionel Hollins gave in late in the half and even went back to the 3-guard lineup to matchup (Conley, Bayless, and Allen).

At halftime, you felt like it would turn around for the Grizz. Especially after a stern pep talk from coach.

It never did.....final score: ATL 103, MEM 92.

It only got worse in the second half, as the game turned into a route. The bright spot at the start of the night was the aggressiveness of Marc Gasol, usually a sign of Grizz success. If not for him, it would've been a blowout much sooner. But it didn't last long. The team as a whole just didn't have it tonight. Gasol ended the game with just 14, while Randolph led the way scoring 20 (though it took him 18 shots).

The best thing I can say about this one for Memphis is at least Austin Daye got some run (3 pts in 14 mins).

Jeff Teague led the Hawks with 22, which undermined Mike Conley's 17.

Let's just be glad we won't have to see Atlanta again until at least the NBA Finals.....
