The Los Angeles Clippers took Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs in a dominant fashion, winning with a score of 112-91 in Staples Center. Seemingly, the Grizzlies did not come to play as they were completely obliterated on both ends of the floor. Here, we look into the statistics and see what has not gone the Grizzlies' way:
-The Grizzlies only had 23 total rebounds compared to 47 by the Clippers. They just doubled their total rebounds- Marc Gasol had 2 rebounds and Zach Randolph only had 4, very unheard of! They should fix this immediately to make this a closer series, especially since this is more known to be one of their strengths in the game.
2. Ineffective Bench
-In the night where Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph struggled, the bench did not help much either. Aside from Jerryd Bayless who scored 19 points, the other bench guys could not score more than six points. On the other hand, the Clippers bench were clicking as they scored a total of 49 points.
3. Clips' FG shooting
The Grizzlies did okay as they went 33 out of 71 (46.5%). However, the Clippers went 41 out of 74 (55.4%). The Grizzlies must do a better job in making every Clipper miss their shots, since most of their shots are from good looks. You cannot expect to win a ball game when a talented team like the Clippers shoots at least 50%.
Game 2 of this series would still be held in Los Angeles. The Grizzlies might wanna come back roaring to steal a game from there and take care of home court when they come back in the FedEx Forum.
