Stein: Grizzlies interested in George Karl over Lionel Hollins

USA TODAY Sports

George Karl was fired by the Nuggets today, and the Grizzlies are interested in talking to him.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Grizzlies are interested in discussing their head coaching job, occupied by Lionel Hollins until his contract runs out on the 30th of this month, with George Karl, head coach of the Denver Nuggets who was just let go today. Karl just won NBA Coach of the Year,

The decision now appears to be between bringing back Hollins, hiring Karl, or promoting assistant Dave Joerger.

I don't know about you guys, but I like George Karl. He's lost in the first round a bunch, but he's also been to the Finals. He hasn't coached a losing team since 1988. That said, one wonders if the Griz roster is currently suited to his style of coaching.

At any rate, a crazy start to the offseason is looking to get a little crazier.
