Second rounders are not guaranteed a contract or a roster spot, but...
Many considered the pick a steal given Franklin’s overall ability and today the Grizzlies locked up the swingman to a three year contract, this according to USA Today’s Sam Amick:
The Grizzlies have agreed to a three-year deal with former San Diego State swingman Jamaal Franklin, I’m told. Third year team option.
Unlike first round draft selections, there are no guaranteed contracts for second round picks so securing a multiple year deal for any rookie drafted in the second half of the NBA Draft is a pretty big statement.
Should the Grizzlies have made this move? With no requirement to do this, why would they? Post your thoughts.
