Marc Gasol reaggravated knee injury in Memphis Grizzlies win over Orlando Magic

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

We're used to this now, right?

The Grizzlies waded through the muck of an ugly 3rd quarter to eventually win in a ping-pong lead changing game against the Orlando Magic. Nick Calathes played really well (4 steals & 2 blocks). Tayshaun Prince was surprisingly very efficient. Courtney Lee continued his strong play. Zach Randolph took over when needed and secured the victory.

But the big story was Marc Gasol leaving the game after an apparent knee collision with a Magic player in the 3rd quarter. Marc looked to be in significant pain as he bit his jersey while being helped off the floor by ZBo. We'd later see him walking, on his own power, to the locker, and then coming back out to the bench in the 4th quarter, but he never reentered the game for obvious reasons.

The Grizzlies have obviously gotten used to losing star players mid-game, and I really enjoyed the poise they showed down the stretch to win this won with a slim yet somehow comfortable margin. They made big free throws, had big stops and executed like a well seasoned basketball team (when they weren't crapping the bed in the 3rd quarter.)

We head into the All-Star break needing the rest, needing the recovery. Wounds aside, however, the Grizzlies hit their "magic number" for playoff appearances. Memphis has never made the playoffs without having at least 29 victories before the break. Our Griz now sit at 29-23.
