The Memphis Grizzlies signed 2014 first round draft pick Jordan Adams to a multi-year contract, the team announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Adams (6-5, 209) was selected by Memphis in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2014 NBA Draft after two seasons at UCLA (2012-14), where he averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a school-record 2.43 steals on .467 shooting in 30.2 minutes in 69 career games. His 168 career steals rank seventh in Bruins history.
While the terms of the deal weren't officially announced. the rookie scale salary for the 22nd pick will begin at $1,082,200 in the 2014-15 season. Like all contracts for first rounders, it will include two guaranteed years as well as two team option years.
Through two games in the Orlando Summer League with the Grizzlies, Adams is averaging 21.0 points (the third-highest scoring average so far), 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals. He turns 20 years old tomorrow (July 8).
