GameThread: Denver Nuggets at Memphis Grizzlies

On the road again today, sorry for the lazy coverage folks, so the gamethread is a short one again. But I'll try to give you a run-down anyways on the other side.

Be sure to fill up that comments list and check out Denver Stiffs tonight for more.

If the Memphis Grizzlies want to beat the Denver Nuggets tonight, even at home, it all relies on their bench play. Denver probably has the second-best starting five in the league, and the Grizzlies will have to hope and pray that their starters can keep them in it against Carmelo Anthony, Nene, and Chauncey Billups.

But the Denver bench is, at times, highly suspect. It's three contributors, J.R. Smith, Chris Andersen, and Ty Lawson, are all fairly inconsistent because of the way they impact the game. Some nights J.R. Swish's patented 24 foot three pointer jut doesn't fall. Some nights Birdman doesn't seem to have many shots to block. And some nights Ty Lawson plays like a rookie, not a national champion.

The Grizz could play Cleveland hard, even on a good night for the Cavs, and still steal a win at home. I doubt the Nuggets will be the same way. The only way that weaker teams beat the Nuggets is by praying that they beat themselves, though, fortunately, on the road and against a sneaky-good team like Memphis, Denver is prone to get a little lazy.
