Preview & GameThread: Oklahoma City Thunder at Memphis Grizzlies

New, comments

The Memphis Grizzlies verus the Oklahoma City Thunder isn't exactly a banner matchup. Casual fans barely know that the Grizzlies have moved from Vancouver, and most probably know the name "Seattle Supersonics" much better than the NBA's newest franchise.

But more and more "hardcore" fans are starting to notice these two young teams, and for excellent reason. OKC holds the best record in the West over the last month, and the Grizzlies have the third best record in the entire Association during the last two months.

Both these teams are primarily known for their repertoire of excellent, young offensive weapons, guys like Kevin Durant, O.J. Mayo, Rudy Gay, and Russell Westbrook. And yet both are also learning how to play in other facets of the game. The Grizzlies are starting to share the ball slightly better and shoot much better from deep, while the Thunder are starting to forge a tough defensive unit with their incredible athleticism.

So even though the Grizzlies gave up the last one to the Thunder, tonight both teams are much improved and ready to try to raise both their profiles in this highlight game.
