Grizzlies Lose Draft Lottery; Stay at 12th Pick

The Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers lucked out and moved up, picking 1st and 2nd respectively, but the Memphis Grizzlies weren't quite so fortunate.

The Grizzlies will have the 12th overall pick in this year's draft, which is exactly where they finished in terms of record. This was expected, however, since Memphis had just under a 1% opportunity to improve their standing.

That means the Grizz will draft 12th, 25th, and 28th in this year's first round. The Nuggets and Lakers selections were not involved in the lottery, since both teams made the playoffs this season.

Some players expected to be selected around the 12th pick are: Ekpe Udoh, Patrick Patterson, Donatas Montiejunas, Daniel Orton, Hassan Whiteside, Xavier Henry, and Damion James. These are mostly frontcourt players, which means the Grizzlies will possibly need to be creative with their selection or trade the pick.
