Report: NBA approves sale of Memphis Grizzlies to Robert Pera-led team

New, comments

The NBA Board of Governors has approved the sale of the Memphis Grizzlies to Robert Pera.

Jerry Lai-US PRESSWIRE

According to the NBA, the Board of Governors have unanimously approved the sale of the Memphis Grizzlies to the Robert Per-led team, which also includes Justin Timberlake and Peyton Manning. Finally!

It's been quite some time since the initial steps have been taken, and it only seemed like a matter of time before the sale would become official, especially once Pera agreed to keep the Grizzlies in Memphis for "at least" the next 15 years.

The next step is for owner Michael Heisley and Robert Pera to hash out the details of the sale, which all seem to be in place. The final-final signature should be put in place sometime over the next few days. Reports are that Heisley, who bought the Grizzlies in 2001 for $160 million, should get close to $350 million from Pera and his group

We'll have more information as it breaks, but for now we'll just leave you with this: Welcome to the Robert Pera era!
