I know we never really got to "know" D.J. Kennedy, but from what little I did get to learn about him, I have to say I really liked the kid.
I said it when we first made the deal for Kennedy -- in the Jeremy Pargo trade, if you recall -- but really there was no chance the Grizzlies were going to keep him rostered this year. Considering the financial situation of the team and that Kennedy's skill-set was less of a need and more of a luxury, if you will, it just seemed like it was only a matter of time before he was cut.
Again, I really enjoyed the way he embraced the city of Memphis and the Grizzlies fans, taking to Twitter to engage with the community. Sure, that's no reason to keep a guy around, but it's a big part of why I think most of the Grizzlies community is now wishing him well. Which is kinda awesome, you know, for a guy who never once suited up for our team!
