The Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting that Rudy Gay will not play in tomorrow night’s home game against the Clippers. Gay has been excused from the team to attend the funeral of his grandmother in Baltimore.
Gay’s grandmother, to whom he was very close, passed away a couple weeks ago.
Rudy missed the December 26th game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to winter weather on the East Coast, where he spent the Christmas holiday with his family. Quincy Pondexter started in Gay’s place in that game. Since he’s out with an MCL sprain, it’s clear the Grizzlies are going to have to get creative with their lineups to beat the Clippers, who currently sit in second place in the Western Conference standings.
