News broke today that Westbrook needed arthroscopic surgery on the same knee he injured back in the playoffs.

What does this mean for the Memphis Grizzlies? Well, Westbrook is likely to miss their first encounter at FedexForum on December 11th, and even if he was able to play, I doubt he would be at full strength. This might also allow top teams in the Western Conference to chip away at what would probably be an OKC team at the top of the standings after the first month of the season.

The really interesting question is, if the Grizzlies manage a hot start in November and December, will the entire NBA blame Westbrook's surgery and make the claim that the Grizzlies would be garbage if Westbrook had been healthy?
