Memphis Grizzlies return home to face the Boston Celtics

The Grizzlies are back in Memphis on Monday night, and they look for a day of rest to give them another surge at home against a struggling opponent.

USA TODAY Sports

Memphis starts a 3 game home stand this week with what is probably the weakest opponent of the trio. If you are offended by how the Grizzlies' offense is struggling, the Boston Celtics might make you feel better about yourselves tonight.

The Grizzlies tipoff against the Celtics at 7:00pm CDT in the FedexForum, and the game can be viewed locally on the usual tv/radio combo of Fox SportsSouth and 92.9 FM ESPN. The Griz faithful were packing the Grindhouse for their opener on Friday, but will they show up for a HOFer-less Celtics matchup to give their team a boost tonight?

Recently for the Grizzlies: An ugly loss in Dallas on Saturday night where the Grizzlies got nice production out of 3 of their 5 starters, but the other 2 (Allen and Prince) were so unproductive that it may have throw off the Grizzlies mojo. Foul trouble in the fourth quarter destroyed any shred of a comeback.

Recently for the Celtics: The Pistons handed them a road loss as they turnover issue continued and they failed to generate hardly any scoring. Boston had the pleasure of dealing with a 12 to 29 FTA ratio, but signs could point to a lack of aggression on the road for a team that has no expectations this season.

Last time they met: 3/23/2013, the only player that suited up for the Grizzlies to not score double digits was Quincy Pondexter, and Jerryd Bayless went nuclear to finish with 30 pts. The Celtics are now more depleted than they were at that point last season, so the Grizzlies have a chance at an "easier" tonight if they can execute and reignite their defensive intensity.
