Feeling out the New Guys

We experienced a bit of trouble after sending Gay to Toronto, dropping three of four. We bounced back with back-to-back wins, including a pretty attractive 105-88 win against Minnesota on Sunday. New man Tayshaun Prince had a team-best 18 points. Austin Daye was behind him with 16.

Yes. Austin Daye.

SacTown Struggles

Sacramento lost to the Grizzlies on January 7th 113-81. They lost again 85-69 on January 18th. The January 18th loss was the Grizzlies' sixth straight home win against the Kings. Despite the struggles, the Kings come to Memphis tonight on the verge of matching its longest win streak of the season.

Averaging 118.5 points in the past two games after scoring 89.1 over the previous eight has something to do with that.

Isaiah Thomas scored 17 of 23 in the fourth quarter of a 117-111 win against Houston on Sunday. John Salmons scored 10 of 23 in the fourth, and DeMarcus Cousins contributed 20 despite foul trouble.

Here and There's

  • Memphis is chasing after their first three-game win streak since a four-game win streak January 6-11. Memphis has won 9 of 11 matchups against Sacramento.
  • The Kings are the second of five straight opponents that have losing records.
  • Isaiah Thomas has totaled a scary 48 points in the past two games. Against the Grizzlies this season? He's been held to a total of 18 points and 25% shooting (6 of 24).
  • Tyreke Evans has totaled 13 points on 4-of-13 against Memphis this season.

Big News!

As I write this, Kevin's working on a piece revealing Straight Outta Vancouver's new name. Get ready, soVers. The new name will be live tomorrow morning.

Final Prediction

I think we come out tonight and continue our offensive streak. I don't think Prince will have another big night, but I'm getting weird feelings about Gasol and Randolph. I dunno. They're due for big things.

Final Score: Sacramento 91, Memphis 97
