Looks like this Memphis Grizzlies team is bolstering up the frontline before heading into the playoffs.
RealGM.com reports the Grizz are signing 6'10, 220 pound forward Willie Reed according his agent Joe Webb. Playing for the Springfield Armor, the Brooklyn Nets D-League affiliate, Reed has averaged 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in 48 games played (started 30). D-League "Prospect Watch" list ranked Reed as the 20th best available player in the Development League.
Coming out of college, St. Louis to be exact, NBADraft.net compared Reed's game to Solomon Jones. His strengths included "Moves well to establish position and is good at catching passes on the move … Developing mid-range jumper, with range out to 15 feet … Hustles on D and gets deflections and a few steals due to his length and quickness … A factor as a shot blocker … Solid rebounder".
Joining an already packed frontcourt, but with inconsistencies being a problem for the reserves, Willie may get a chance to prove his worth playing behind Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.
Reed took to Twitter to tweet about his call-up to Memphis.
