Free Agency 2013: Stein: Mike Miller met with Pera and Levien; Griz, Thunder, Nuggets in pursuit

New, comments

Marc Gasol didn't play college basketball, so one can only hope he knows how to recruit as he tries to convince Mike Miller to join the Grizzlies for next season.

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, Mike Miller is being pursued by the Grizzlies, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Denver Nuggets, and had a meeting with Griz ownership on Friday:

Miller, according to sources, met face-to-face Friday with new Grizzlies owner Robert Pera and CEO Jason Levien after an earlier sitdown with Thunder general manager Sam Presti. Sources said that Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant and Grizzlies All-Star Marc Gasol have both taken an active role in recruiting Miller, who has received interest from a number of contenders after being released earlier this week by the Miami Heat via the amnesty provision.

Memphis could definitely use Miller's talents, and his comfort level with the city can't hurt the Grizzlies' chances. One can only hope that Marc Gasol is a better recruiter than Kevin Durant and the Grizzlies will end up with Mike Miller in Beale Street Blue next year.
