Bring Back a Player Day-The Island of Misfit Toys

Bring Back a Player Day is fun and all, but there are more than a handful of Grizzlies I'd very much like to forget. Can we have "Go Back and Delete a Player's Existence in Your Organization Day?"

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

Today, as you've already figured out by the series of posts done by the other GBB contributors, is Bring Back a Player day. If you missed the other posts, I suggest you check them out, because they are pretty solid. When discussing this, several names got thrown out. Mike Miller, Pau Gasol, Shane Battier, all excellent choices. But for me, my immediate reaction was this.

I'd like Ish Smith please. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Dominique Jones. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Xavier Henry. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Hasheem Thabeet. Oh you don't want him? Just give me Sergei Lishouk. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Fab Melo. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Marko Jaric. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Brian Cardinal. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Darko Milicic. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Kwame Brown. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Sam Young. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Acie Law. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Antoine Walker. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Greg Buckner. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Allen Iverson. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Aaron Mckie. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Bonzi Wells. Oh, you don't want him? Just give me Josh Davis. Actually, no, that's too far, even for a joke.

Now, was all of this ridiculous and facetious? Yes. But in all seriousness, it was my immediate response, just ask the guys in the email thread. What I take away from it, however, is that in the past, the Grizzlies have had some all time stinkers on their rosters. The best player on that list (obviously not counting Allen Iverson) is probably Kwame Brown. Let that sink in for a second. The point? We are in a golden age of Grizzlies basketball. Three consecutive playoff seasons, a trip to the Western Conference Finals, and now the number one franchise in all of sports. It is good to be a Grizzly!
