Grind Prophecies: The Story of Today

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

One of the reasons I love Memphis, is because despite its size and negative stereotypes, everywhere you turn, there's a new and unique story unfolding. Whether it be a scruffily bearded curmudgeon with a heart of gold trying to determine whether love alone is worth the fight, or a grieving widow watching and hoping as a football team from across the country makes a run at a Super Bowl her late husband would have loved to see; there is always something going on. This past week in our beloved city has felt like an entire year, with weather ranging from single-digits, to mid 60's all within a 7-day period. When you have one of these year-weeks, you can just about find yourselves overwhelmed with different stories.

Sometimes, you may think you've found yourself embarking on a certain story, and halfway through, realize you're in an entirely different one, and sometimes that's the point. The greatest moments in your life wont be the things you do, they'll be the things that happen to you. Sure, you can be your own boss, and do things that greatly affect the outcomes of your lives, but never forget that on any given day you can step out your front door and your whole lives can change forever. The universe has a plan, kids, and that plan is always in motion. Today may not be the day you meet the future mother of your children, and it may not even be the day you learn the name of the pretty waitress with the award-winning smile, but today is always going to be the greatest day in history, because if nothing else, it's today.

Today, our Grizzlies look to build a winning streak at home against the Hawks. How will it happen, and who will lead the charge? It's time to prophecy!
