Recently for the Jazz
Utah is capping off a 6-game road trip that's seen mixed results for the Jazz. They'll have games where the offense is coming prolifically, and then they head down to the Grizzlies' neck of the woods with games that finish in the 80's and 90's. Overall, however, this isn't a high octane team that's going to come in to FedexForum and scorch the walls with dozens of three-point shots. (Although I guess there's always that chance that Steve Novak gets hot tonight, because GRizzlieS.) The Jazz are also playing their 5th game in 7 days, just like the Grizzlies.
Recently for the Grizzlies
In the month of December, Memphis has sandwiched a 6-game-winning streak between 2 losses on both ends. Although their recent performances have left many fans disappointed, the Grizzlies should be on pace to finish out the calendar year with a respectable record. Getting Zach Randolph and Tony Allen back would be of tremendous help in the "energy" department as much of the Grit'n'Grind edge comes from those two, but it's likely that the Grizzlies will have to go into battle without them once again tonight.
- Gordon Hayward. Last season, Gordon averaged 27.3% 3-point shooting against the Grizzlies -- almost 10% lower than his career average. I pray that Memphis sustains that hold against the player with the face I hate most of any in the NBA.
- Courtney Lee. CLee has shot 4/14 from the field in the past two games (both Grizzlies losses), and yesterday in Cleveland he didn't even take a 3-point attempt in 23 minutes of playing time. Contrast that with Vince Carter's ability to get up 4-8 long-range shots in under 15 minutes and you present me with information that irritates me.
- More three-point shooting analysis. Mike Conley, although he's been incredibly clutch when called on to make the big shots, has only made (3) of (20) three-point attempts in his last four games. Swing a few of those Courtney's way, Mikey.
