In exchange, the Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired center Jarvis Varnado and Energy's 2015 third round pick.
Jarvis Varnado (6-10, 225) played last season for the Iowa Energy, where he averaged 31.7 minutes, 14.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 22 games (22 starts). He was selected as an NBA D-League All-Star, before earning an NBA Call-Up from the Philadelphia Sixers, where he played 23 games averaging 14.7 minutes, 4.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.3 blocks. On October 7, he was waived.
The 2014-2015 D-League season is still young, but considering that the Los Angeles D-Defenders are 5-12 and the Iowa Energy 6-8, and also the relatively high success achieved in the 2014 D-League Draft with the only first round pick Energy owned -selecting Damien Wilkins with the 16th pick-, this move seems like a good deal looking at the future of the Iowa Energy.
