Griz are all back after break. Conley will return Tues vs Knicks. Allen practicing and a game-time decision. Gasol practicing to test knee— Ronald Tillery (@CAGrizBeat) February 17, 2014
After missing seven games, Mike Conley is ready to re-enter the starting lineup Tuesday night when the New York Knicks roll into town. The All-Star break came at the perfect time for a hobbled Conley. The Grizzlies were able to go 4-3 in the seven game stretch Conley missed by beating up on most of the weaker opponents they faced.
Although the Grizzlies showed great resilience and fortitude to push through without Conley, they will undoubtedly be relieved to see him back in the starting lineup, thus moving Nick Calathes back to coming off the bench. Calathes held his own and played really well as the starting point guard, but the Grizzlies are much better served with him in a backup role.
Also, it's still yet to be determined what this means for Darius Morris, who signed a 10-day contract with the Grizzlies once Conley went down. It likely will not be known until sometime Tuesday as to whether his services will be retained.
Marc Gasol and Tony Allen, the other Grizzlies on the injury list, are game-time decisions for Tuesday night's game against the Knicks. After re-aggravating his knee, Gasol had an MRI that revealed no structural damage, and how he feels before the Knicks game will likely determine whether he will give it a go or not.
As for Allen, if his wrist feels right and he is not traded before Tuesday night's game, he will be in the lineup.
The break is finally over ladies and gents! Time to grind!
