Reasons to be optimistic: The biggest reason of the night? Tune in to Fox SportsSouth at 7:00PM and you should witness optimism as performance art. The Spurs beat the Mavericks last night, and the Nuggets also pulled off a win against the Warriors.

Don't rule it out yet: It's a long shot, but the 6th seed isn't mathematically ruled out for the Grizzlies just yet. They'd need to win out and have Golden State finish 1-3 against the Lakers (tonight), Blazers, Timberwolves and Nuggets. Maybe our Western Conference karma comes back to conjure some magic for the Grizzlies.

Forecast: I don't think there's any possible way the Sixers beat the Grizzlies tonight, but Sundays game in Los Angeles against the Lakers is the one remaining trap game for Memphis. The Lakers are awful, but they did beat the crap out of the Knicks and the Suns just a couple of weeks ago. Don't sleep on that one. If the Grizzlies play their defense with GnG intensity the rest of the season they should be able to secure the 7th seed in the Western Conference Playoffs - MMmm the Power! The Suns game in Phoenix on Monday scares me simply because it's a SEGABABA, but Phoenix has been under the Grizzlies thumb for most of this season.
