Reasons to be optimistic: The Grizzlies get to play the Timberwolves who have learned a new trick last time they played the Grizzlies (rolling over and playing dead) followed by a home game against the Nuggets who somehow allowed the Grizzlies to win in Denver the other night. The Suns' schedule reads this week as vs. Clippers, at Blazers, vs. Thunder, while the Mavericks kick off a 4-game-road trip.
Short Memories: Remember when we barely beat the Jazz, lost two games to playoff overheads and then barely beat the Nuggets? I don't want to, and I hope the Grizzlies don't either. Let's get back to beating up and picking on the few weak teams we have left on the schedule.
Forecast: We really need to match or better whatever the Suns are up to these days - as long as we're at least tied with them we're essentially in the playoffs because of the tiebreaker. The Grizzlies are likely taking the one-game-at-a-time mentality right now, but you can't help but stare down the Sunday matchup with the Spurs. The next three games will have an enormous impact on the atmosphere of our final two games against the Suns and Mavs. Because of the tough schedules that our competitors have coming up I think the Grizzlies can get by with a 2-1 record this rest of this week. Phoenix is likely to go 1-2 and keep us afloat.
