Realistically, Houston will pick a draft and stash guy, in their all-out pursuit of their own Big 3. Some of the interesting names that are still available are - Clint Capela, a tweener 3/4 with a defense and rebounding bent, who's could also be a 4 win guy next year (per Kevin Pelton's Euroleague projections) and Kristaps Prozingis, a 7-foot PF that would likely be a top-10 pick in the 2015 draft. Ideally, I would have moved down to the early 2nd and picked up similarly talented players (KJ McDaniels could be an instant contributor as a versatile defender) as are available now, but where my contracts wouldn't be guaranteed.

The mechanisms the Rockets have to execute for the chance to land Melo are ridiculously complicated - moving Asik, Lin, Motiejunas, Garcia, and whoever they select with this pick - almost prohibitively so. Right now, they look like the third or fourth option for Love. Morey is a brilliant guy and has to realize those odds are stacked against him to land his third banana now, and that his team needs reinforcements on the perimeter.

With the 25th pick in the GBB 2014 Mock Draft, the Houston Rockets select:

25) James Young, SG/SF, Kentucky

Enter James Young. Here's a guy that's been linked to Boston at #6, as well as Philly at #10 and Orlando at #12. He has scoring and shooting skills that were near the top of his high school class last year and legitimate wing size - 6'7.5" in shoes, 7' wingspan, and 8'8" standing reach. He also did this. His defense is less than stellar, but he has the tools necessary to compete. In a few years a big lineup with a Harden-Young backcourt could give teams fits. Identifying market inefficiencies and exploiting them are Morey's game. Having a guy with lottery potential fall in my lap at #24 is too much to pass up.
