The Memphis Grizzlies have signed Jarnell Stokes to a reported 3-year deal worth upwards of $2.5 million. The 20-year-old Memphis native was acquired via a draft day trade with the Utah Jazz. The Grizzlies received the 35th pick (Jarnell Stokes) in the 2014 NBA Draft while sending a 2016 2nd round pick to Utah.

More on the "Young Bull"

Stokes was widely regarded as a 1st round talent, so it was viewed as a steal by many for the Grizzlies to only have given up a future 2nd round pick. Details of the contract have not been released, but early reports indicate that Stokes will receive more money than a traditional 2nd round pick, and in exchange, he will become a restricted free agent at the end of his deal, allowing the Grizzlies more of an opportunity to keep the highly talented big man.

It is unclear exactly how Stokes will fit into this year's roster, but his style of play certainly fits the tough, hard-nosed basketball the Grizzlies have become known for over the past several seasons. More than likely, Stokes will spend time with the Grizzlies' D-League affiliate, Iowa Energy. However, do not be surprised to see Stokes given the opportunity to earn minutes in his rookie year.
