We now interrupt your preseason programming, NFL, with a little preseason pick-me-up of our own.

The Memphis Grizzlies have announced their 2014 preseason schedule.

  • Wednesday, 10/8: at Milwaukee, 7pm
  • Thursday, 10/9: at Houston, 7pm
  • Saturday, 10/11: vs. Atlanta, 7pm
  • Tuesday, 10/14: at OKC, 7pm
  • Friday, 10/17: vs Flamengo (Brazil), 7pm
  • Monday, 10/20: at Dallas, 7:30pm
  • Wednesday, 10/22: vs. Cleveland, 7pm
  • Friday, 10/24: vs. Miami, 7pm

The Grizzlies' eight-game tune-up begins on October 8 (two months from today!), in Green Bay, against number two overall pick Jabari Parker and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Four of the team's games which we will put too much stock in because here in about two months we shall all be bedraggled, basketball-starved pilgrims will be played at FedEx Forum. The Grizz will host Atlanta, Flamengo of Brazil, Cleveland, and Miami as they grease the gears of the Grindhouse. Single-game tickets for these games will go on sale Saturday, September 27, at 10 a.m.

Memphis will also conduct dress rehearsals at Milwaukee, Houston, Oklahoma City, and Dallas.

Preseason games, of course, can skew towards meaninglessness, but this eight-game slate looks pretty dadgum enticing anyway. Grizzlies fans will be eager to watch rookies Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes face non-summer league competition. We'll get to see how Vince Carter looks in his new uniform. And as far as name-brand NBA stars go, this preseason sked couldn't be any starrier. A few names we'll see come October: Jabari, Dwight, Harden, Durant, Westbrook, Dirk, LeBron, Kyrie, Love, D-Wade, and Bosh.

If we close our eyes and wish really hard maybe they'll stop talking about Johnny Manziel and it will magically be October 8th?
