Grizzlies Report Card

Grizzlies 95 - Mavericks 103

Coach Dave Joerger:

Grade: C-

Here's a list of all the things that Coach Joerger did this game:

Coach Joerger decided to play Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol the whole second half.

He played Kosta Koufos only nine minutes.

He played Jordan Adams to jumpstart the offense, but only kept him in for two minutes.

The only good thing that he did in this game was keeping Mike Conley at thirty minutes. I'm actually surprised he played on his two bad ankles.

Starters

Mike Conley: 30 MINS | 22 PTS | 7-16 FGS | 4 ASTS | -1

Grade: A

Playing on two bad ankles? Check. Putting up 22 points on a good defensive team in Dallas? Check. You can't stop the Conley. You can only watch and marvel in his amazingness. The 2-8 from three was a blemish, but apparently it was team wide decision to not hit threes against Dallas. I guess they thought it would be unfair.

Courtney Lee: 31 MINS | 12 PTS | 5-14 FGS | 2 REBS | -8

Grade: C+

Well CLee did not have the best defensive game against the Mavericks. He seemed more interested in being in the paint helping Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph guard the rim. It's baffling. I haven't seen the Grizzlies make as many defensive mistakes that they have made in the last month in a long time.

Tony Allen: 17 MINS | 4 PTS | 1-3 FGS | 1 REB | -1

Grade: C

Tony was in full treat mode so he got frustrated and decided he didn't need to get back on defense. I don't think Coach Joerger liked that very much.

Zach Randolph: 40 MINS | 18 PTS | 8-13 FGS | 15 REBS | -8

Grade: B+

I hate the Z-Bo Iso late in the fourth quarter. It may have gone in if he wasn't almost dead from exhaustion. I know he was owning Tyson Chandler and Dirk Nowitzki on the block, but that is no reason to play him for a whole half. He just missed nine games with a knee injury. That is just asking for trouble.

Marc Gasol: 39 MINS | 20 PTS | 6-13 FGS | 8 REBS | -8

Grade: B+

Marc Gasol was in the Forum to dunk on faces and steal your girl. He's out of faces to dunk on.

Bench

Jeff Green: 32 MINS | 11 PTS | 5-14 FGS | 8 REBS | -7

Grade: B

Really was surprised by the compete game that Jeff Green had. Under pressure to produce he put together a solid game with 11 points and 8 rebounds, but he went 0-5 from 3. Draining open threes is what the Grizzlies need him to do. You would think that one would fall eventually. Going from Boston to Memphis has been a much smoother transition than I expected. At the moment he is playing the sixth man role and finishing the game with the starters in place for Tony Allen. Yet, I feel a starting lineup change coming.

Nick Calathes: 13 MINS | 2 PTS | 1-2 FGS| 2 ASTS | +2

Grade: C

In a game where the Grizzlies needed a spark Nick Calathes played 13 minutes. Considering how well he's played in that role the past few weeks this is surprising.

Beno Udrih: 17 MIN | 4 PTS | 2-5 FGS | 1 AST | -4

Grade: C

After two games of great basketball, Beno just could not get it going against the Mavs. HIs midrange jumper wasn't falling, but the Mavs have Tyson Chandler under the basket so driving was kind of a bad decision.

Vince Carter: 9 MINS | 0 PTS| 0-2 FGS | 1 REB | -4

Grade: Not Eligible

Kosta Koufos: 9 MINS | 2 PTS | 1-2 FGS | 4 REBS| +0

Grade: Not Eligible

Jordan Adams: 2 MINS | -0

Grade: Not Eligible
