After taking Sunday off, the Memphis Grizzlies will welcome the Orlando Magic to the FedExForum on Monday for their only matchup in front of the Memphis crowd this season. On January 16th, the Grizzlies faced the Magic in a 106-96 win. They'll look to complete the brief two-game series sweep tonight, and for the Magic to be their third straight win.
The big difference between the last time these teams faced off and tonight's game will be the inclusion of Jeff Green into the starting lineup, barring any unforeseen changes before tip-off. Green was the leading Grizzlies scorer in the last game between these teams with 21 points, and is coming off an 18-point performance against the Philadelphia 76ers. He's expected to start his third straight game against the Magic, joined by Courtney Lee, who resumed his spot in the starting lineup against the 76ers after Joerger had initially taken him out for Green.
With an extra day of rest on their side, the Grizzlies will seek to attack a young Magic squad featuring Rookie of the Year candidate Elfrid Payton. The last time these two teams faced off, Payton erupted for career-highs of 22 points and 12 assists.
The Magic are coming off a 106-99 loss last night against the Indiana Pacers, their fifth defeat in a row. They added highly-touted rookie Aaron Gordon to the starting lineup for the first time last night in an attempt to revitalize their defensive effort, but the Pacers became the ninth straight Magic opponent to break the 100-point plateau. The Grizzlies will try to be the next in both streaks.
