Quick Recap: Memphis Grizzlies Downed by Atlanta Hawks, Final Score 96-86

New, comments

The Grizzlies are the latest victim of "Spurs East", and three-point defense continues to be a problem.

Lineup notes

Jarnell Stokes got his second straight start in place of Zach "Wounded Knee" Randolph (get better dude, seriously), but was replaced by Kosta Koufos to start the second half. Dave Joerger, like that guitar player who won't stop fiddling with his amp, tweaked and tweaked the rotation until he landed on a Conley/Udrih/Calathes/Prince/Gasol lineup in the fourth quarter that, uh... well, it happened.

Game Story

In short, it was a game of runs. The teams traded 5 point leads in the first half, and it took a late push to get the Grizzlies back within five at halftime after the Hawks ripped off a 22-8 run in the middle of the second. The Hawks owned the third quarter, as the Grizzlies went 6-20 from the field, but Memphis turned it around when Atlanta went cold to start the fourth -- Nick Calathes' first three of the season and a then a quick layup tied the game at 76 with 7 minutes to go, but Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague hit back to back triples with 60 seconds left to put the Grizzlies away.

Hanging Chads

1. Mike Conley went for 17 pts, 9 rebs, and 6 assists, but was out-offensed by Jeff Teague. (The Hawks made 13-25 threes, by the way.)

2. Hell's house band is the Hawks' in-arena organist.

3. Never challenge Wendigo to a game of "horse".
