The Memphis Grizzlies played and beat Maccabi Haifa last night. You'd think this would be a game where all the young guys would get some heavy playing time, but it was not. In fact, we saw Marc Gasol and Mike Conley play more than anyone else on the team, both right around 29 minutes.
Marc was on point (he really missed that international competition this summer) and went for 23 points on 66% shooting with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Big(ger) Spain (some of that belly has indeed come back to his mid section) led the team the way a franchise player should.
Mike Conley wasn't quite as crisp, but he did show us a glimpse of what he's got in his back pocket.
We also saw some significant minutes from Matt Barnes and Brandan Wright. Both guys found a rhythm throughout the game and are looking more and more comfortable with Memphis.
The Grizzlies are 2-0 in the preseason and chugging right along. Next up, we'll see Mike Conley make his return to Ohio State when the Grizzlies face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night. Hopefully the likes of Jordan Adams and Russ Smith get to suit up for action.
