18) Jerian Grant, PG from Notre Dame

With a pretty good roster as it is, there are few holes to fill for the Rockets. One fairly large hole exists in Houston's backcourt. Pablo Prigioni is 38 and Jason Terry will be 38 by the beginning of the season. Nick Johnson and KJ McDaniels rarely played this season. Needless to say, the Rockets need another contributor in the backcourt. More specifically, the Rockets need an offensive contributor in the backcourt, which is not something that Patrick Beverley is known for. Why not draft someone who is ready to contribute immediately? Jerian Grant is that guy. He still has a little room for development, so forget about his age (he'll be 23 by the start of the season). He's exactly who you want at point guard when you already have two superstars. He has great length, a very quick first step and a very strong playmaking ability. Assuming Patrick Beverley comes back healthy, Grant won't have to come in and run the offense immediately. The plan would be to ask him to run the offense in a year or two, which he should be more than capable of doing.

Next in the draft we've got the Wizards and sedricacceus on the clock at #19, but I hear a trade is in the air...
