Memphis Grizzlies bolster front court depth with veteran center Ryan Hollins

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

As a lot of us have been thinking, the Grizzlies were lacking some experienced size on their roster after the departures of Kosta Koufos and Jon Leuer. Expect to see plenty of Brandan Wright backing up either Zach Randolph or Marc Gasol at times, but Memphis really needed another option for the sake of bulk. NBA teams are going small, but the drop off from Marc Gasol feels too significant.

Enter one Ryan Hollins.

Make no mistake. This isn't really the kind of signing you go out and buy a nice bottle of wine for. This is liquor ... and cheap ... and probably one you've never even heard of before. Hollins is a limited player, and he's very much a Haddadien™ backup center.

But the Grizzlies have a bigger roster. And they also now have someone who looks a bit like another limited 7-foot dude getting paid by the Grizzlies (yyyyup, still ... $437,080) ... Fab Melo.

We'll keep you updated when the numbers come out on this deal. Until then, what do you all think of the signing?

UPDATE: Fret not, people. This is merely a camp invite.
