Report: Zach Randolph will come off the bench this season

Ron Tillery of the Commercial Appeal dropped a bomb today.

The starting lineup for the Memphis Grizzlies is expected to undergo changes. Under new head coach David Fizdale, Zach Randolph will come off the bench during the upcoming season, according to Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal.

That started to change last season with Dave Joerger shuffling his lineups around in the middle of the season, Randolph found himself relegated to a bench role while guys like Jeff Green took starts at the four.

GBB’s Brandon Conner wrote a couple weeks ago about the possibility of Z-Bo coming off the bench.

The question is now answered.

The former Michigan State Spartan averaged a career-low 29.6 minutes per game last season. The 35-year-old big man will more than likely see his numbers take a dip during the 2016-17 season after averaging 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds just a season ago. Randolph will be expected to be a significant member of the Grizzlies' regular rotation and one of the key players in the second unit. Randolph should have plenty of value off the bench. Grizzly fans should expect JaMychal Green to be the one to start in his place.

Since joining Memphis in July of 2009, Zach Randolph has been one of the staples in the Memphis starting lineup, starting 380 of 382 regular season games that he's been able to play in.

The Grizzlies should be in good shape with the return of Marc Gasol.
