Grizz vs. Heat GameThread

For Fizdale, friendly faces pose a challenge.

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Call it David Fizdale weekend.

While most of America recovers from a turkey/mashed potato/carbohydrates in general food coma over the next two days, the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies has a home and home back to back against the team who he had a direct hand in helping make great. The Miami Heat won two championships with Fizdale as an assistant coach and went to two more NBA Finals during a run of success where Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James ruled the news cycle of the NBA with iron fists. It was one of the reasons Fizdale's resume was so impressive to many- he's worked with the best and knows what it takes to be the best.

Now he takes on his mentor in Erik Spoelstra and a Miami Heat team that looks quite different than those title contenders a couple of years ago. It will surely be strange for Coach Fizdale, but it is safe to say he is likely excited for the challenge ahead of him tonight against an organization he surely still cares a lot about.

Please act respectfully as we enjoy this 21st century basketball experience.
