Watching the Memphis Grizzlies mourn for their teammate Zach Randolph and what he is currently going through is a reminder of just how close this and other sports teams are.
Zach lost his mom on Thanksgiving, and reading quotes from Mike Conley and others about what she meant to not only Zach, but to them as individuals, was powerful. We often lose sight of the fact that these athletic heroes of ours are human, with emotions and lives outside of the game. When you view it through that lens, it makes the fact that Memphis is without their star sixth man not that important.
At least, not as important as the Grizzlies team missing their teammate/friend, and Zach missing his mom.
Nonetheless, there is a game tonight, and thanks for enjoying it with us at GBB. Please act respectfully as we enjoy this 21st century basketball experience. All opinions and "hot takes" are welcome as long as they are communicated intelligently and with attention of the golden rule- "don't be a jerk." Also, please do NOT post any illegal streaming links anywhere in the comments or elsewhere on the site.
Thanks as always to numberFire for tonight's GameThread Game Preview. Go Memphis, beat Charlotte (again).
