Quick Recap: Memphis Stomped By The Clippers, 99-88

Entering tonight, the Memphis Grizzlies had had two overtimes in the past week and two back-to-backs. Sitting at 3-2, the Grizzlies looked to protect their home court against the 3-1 Los Angeles Clippers.

Mike Conley had the first basket of the game and had 3 threes in the quarter. Vince Carter also chipped in a three during the first twelve minutes. Clippers opened up to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter, in part thanks to 8 points from Chris Paul. However, Memphis went on a run to finish up the first period and was down 23-20 by the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Clippers gradually regained a firm lead. It definitely didn’t help that Memphis had only 8 points in the paint, and Marc Gasol struggled in the first half. He was a depressing 1/10 from the field in the first two quarters. Chris Paul led Clippers at the half with 15 points and 6 assists.

As a team, Memphis shot 27.3 percent from the field first half and only had 8 points in the paint, while Conley led the Grizz with 15. The Grizzlies found themselves in a 18 point hole going into the third.

The Clippers led after the third period, 76-57, and continued to dominate. On the night, Mike Conley had 30 points and was by far the best Memphis player tonight. For Los Angeles, Chris Paul had 19 points to go along with 10 assists. DeAndre Jordan had only 6 points but 21 rebounds in the game. Off the bench, Zach Randolph had a decent performance with 15 points.

In the fourth, the Clippers continued to dominate. However, Memphis cut the deficit to 10 with just over three minutes left. But the Grizzlies followed up with a couple empty offensive possessions and came up short of the comeback. The Clips grabbed the win in the FedEx Forum, 99-88.
