The Grizzlies snapped the losing streak and won the last night against Houston. Zach Randolph, Mike Conley, James Ennis, and Vince Carter showed efficient offense against the Rockets sloppy defense.
Although the Rockets fought back and there were several lead changes in the game, the Grizzlies pulled out the win 115-109. Tonight’s game was one of their highest scoring games in the season.
Here are tonight’s grades:
Mike Conley: A
The conductor is back, people. The Mike Conley we all know is back. He scored 24 points and tallied 5 assists and 3 rebounds with 0 turnovers. He led the offense tonight, shooting over 50 percent from the floor and 50 percent from deep.
Marc Gasol: B+
Marc Gasol did not have the best night, however he managed to score 16 points and tallied 4 assists and 5 rebounds.
Vince Carter: A+
Vince may be aging, but his range is the same. He managed to drop 4 three pointers against the Rockets. He scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Zach Randolph: A-
Randolph was locked and loaded in the post. He managed to out-work Montrezl Harrell and Nene in the post. He tallied 16 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds.
James Ennis: B+
Ennis started to look like Tony Allen slashing to the rim. He tallied 13 points and 1 rebound. He also made 3 three pointers.
The rest of the team: B
Tony Allen played excellent defense against James Harden. However, the put-back jam from Jarell Martin was the spark that gave the Grizzlies momentum. Parsons, Harrison, and Green made an effort to contribute as well. The team defense in the post was great but the three point defense was average with the Rockets contested threes.
Dave Fizdale: A
Fizdale lit a fire under the team. Since the recent losing streak, the Grizzlies are more motivated than ever to get better. Tonight’s win against the Rockets give the Grizzlies two wins in a row. Fizdale deserves credit for getting this team together and pulling out wins. Fizdale’s defensive sets and new offensive sets for Gasol and Conley in particular are a winning combination for this team.
