Every Memphian down in Memphis loved Z-Bo a lot...
But the Blogger Grinch, who lived in Grizzly Bear Blues, did not.
The Blogger Grinch hated Z-Bo, and all of the Z-Bo feelings.
His jab-step jumper was maddening, his Z-Bounds deceiving.
“He’s unathletic”, he yelled from the top of Grizzlies Twitter,
“He is old, he is done, there are players who are fitter!”
He saw all the love, but he felt all the more
that Zach Randolph should be traded, Memphis should form a new core.
“We need to win a title”, he cried with a shout,
Thinking winning and rings were what it was all about.
“Rudy Gay, he’s the future”, he said loud with glee,
Not knowing just how dumb that opinion would turn out to be.
Then, he got an idea...
An awful idea...
The Blogger Grinch got an awful, terrible idea...
“ED DAVIS IS THE FUTURE, JEFF GREEN IS THE ANSWER”,
Ok, that’s two bad ideas, both a dream, one a cancer.
But the point is that Blogger Grinch continued to replace
a player whose face has helped to make the place
that is Memphis! The Grizzlies, they and Randolph are one and the same,
but Blogger Grinch believed no titles could come with Zach in the game.
Then, as time went on, and the Blogger Grinch watched from afar,
He saw more and more what the Memphians saw in this star.
His generosity, his passion, his love for his city
led to the feelings being mutual between Memphis and their #50.
His game was flawed, but hell, so were they!
His toughness and reliability were what ruled the day.
So Blogger Grinch bought in, and accepted defeat,
Zach Randolph is Memphis, no matter how bittersweet.
Being wrong is never easy for a blogger to state,
Especially with a heaping pile of crow on your plate.
But Blogger Grinch was OK with taking this L,
Hoping Zach aging and fading as a Grizzly would end well.
But even if it didn’t, well in Memphis Twitter they say,
that the Blogger Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day.
Because he finally got what they knew all along!
Winning titles is great, but the journey is long!
The people of the Grizzlies are so special, so unique,
And they have won with Zach, both as he fades and at his peak!
And the moments, the sweet moments, of true love and emotion
Does not happen in other NBA cities that just go through the motions.

It is bigger than fandom, than a win and a loss,
It is bigger than trading for an answer or a boss.
Fandom in the Grizzlies for Memphis isn’t just a game,
It is love in its truest sense, in an ideal, in a name.
Zach Randolph helped build that, and Memphis loves him more than ever before.
Perhaps there are things that mean just a little bit more.
