Report Card: Game 2, Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs

New, comments

Grading out the individual performances in last night's deja vu 94-68 drubbing from San Antonio.

Welp. What are ya gonna do?

shrug

This team is just way, way better than the Replacement Grizzlies. And we can't score. At all.

No shame in that. Just tough to watch.

Sad that it's come to Mike & Marc giving away tickets to the post-season home opener. It just doesn't feel like playoff time in Memphis.

Farmar

D

Jordan Farmar: 31 min, 8 p, 2 a, 1 r, 2 s, -12

Farmar led the Grizzlies in minutes last night. I repeat: Jordan Farmar, approximately our 2,741st point guard this season who has been on the team for 14 games, led the team in minutes.

facepalm

Carter

C-

Vince Carter: 17 min, 4 p, 1 r, 1 a, 2 s, -13

Carter's 38 year old body just isn't in a place to handle the role he's being asked to play. We'll see flashes of his former glory like we saw in Game 1, but last night was a regression to the mean.

Barnes

C

Matt Barnes: 30 min, 9 p, 6 r, 2 a, 1 s, -8

An unspectacular, forgettable performance by Barnes, but he did have the best quote of the evening:

B-

Zach Randolph: 30 min, 11 p, 12 r, 3 a, -14

Wherefore art thou, Z-Bo? Being stifled by the Spurs' smothering defense. When you are literally the only threat the opponent has to gameplan for, and that opponent is led by Gregg Popovich? Ugh...

Andersen

D

Chris Andersen: 24 min, 4 p, 8 r, -11

The Birdman's wings have been clipped.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

"Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week!"

Weber

D+

Xavier Munford: 27 min, 6 p, 3 r, 2 a, 2 s, -19

And Munford had the most minutes of anyone coming off the bench last night. This is what it's come to.

Martin

D-

Jarell Martin: 23 min, 4 p, 3 r, 1 a, 2 s, -20

Yeesh. Exposed by the Spurs' future Hall of Fame big men last night. But hey, he's a rookie playing against an all-time great team. He gets a pass.

JaGreen

JaMychal Green: 19 min, 6 p, 7 r, 1 a, 2 s,  2 b, -7

Lots of motor and activity last night, which is more than you can say about a lot of our players. I like that he busts his butt regardless of situation.

Hairston

F

P.J. Hairston: 10 min, 0 p, -7

I am very ready for P.J. Hairston to no longer wear a Memphis Grizzlies uniform. Very, very ready.

Stephenson

C-

Lance Stephenson: 9 min, 4 p, 1 a, -8

Joerger almost gave Born Ready the Bulls treatment again last night, but Stephenson did get 9 short minutes. In those 9 minutes, Lance somehow found a way to still jack up 7 shots, missing 5 of them.

Whatever.

Joerger

Oy Vey

Head Coach Dave Joerger

His in-game interviews have been so dejected. Dude knows what he's up against.
