Four picks have come and gone in our Mock Draft so far, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are now on the clock at #5 overall. Their Mock GM, Aimee Stiegemeyer, Founding Editor and Co-Owner of Memphis Grizzlies fan blog All Heart in Hoop City, has submitted their selection.

With the #5 overall pick in the 2016 Grizzly Bear Blues Community NBA Mock Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select...

Buddy Hield, Guard, University of Oklahoma

Not a terribly shocking choice, as the star of the 2016 NCAA Tournament is now the first guard to come off the board. Here is what Aimee has to say about the pick-

Based on the mock draft predictions I have read, I didn't expect Buddy Hield to still be available by the 5th pick, so this is kind of a pleasant surprise. Looking at his progression across the four seasons he played in Oklahoma, one thing that stands out to me is just how much he has consistently improved in every facet of his game.

He intended to enter the draft last year, but opted to play another season with Oklahoma after receiving some less than positive feedback from NBA teams last year. Which turned out to be a wise decision on Hield's part, as he has made noticeable strides in this last season. That he's already shown a willingness to take constructive criticism and convey that into improvements in his game is definitely a point in his favor as well.
Hield seems to have a lot of raw potential that the right coach could really capitalize on, and there is no denying that Tom Thibodeau is a talented coach with the ability to help players develop their potential.

I'm not sure how much floor time he will see in his first year, but everything I am reading about Hield says he is an extremely hard worker, and Thibs isn't known for going easy on his players. Which is another thing that makes him a smart pick for the Timberwolves, the likelihood he will fit in with the coaching style in Minnesota.

An offensive stud heading to Minnesota to play under a defensive maestro? Sounds like another reason to fear the Timberwolves in the future.

Pick #6 will be up later today, and we will have a trade to announce! Be sure to stay with GBB as we march along in our Community NBA Mock Draft!
