Some good news for a son of Memphis.

#GTG has now officially transitioned to #GNG. Shams Charania with Yahoo's The Vertical is reporting that the Grizzlies have signed former Memphis Tiger and Memphis fan favorite D.J. Stephens to a 2-year partially guaranteed contract.

Stephens, while still a high-flyer, has developed his game beyond pure athleticism with an increasingly consistent 3 point shot. Exactly half - 11 of 22 - of Stephens' 3 point shots in the Las Vegas Summer League were from the 3 point line, and he connected on 36%. D.J. also hit 33% of a fairly high volume of 3-pointers last season in the NBA D-League.

The Grizzlies no doubt hope to develop Stephens into an athletic 3&D role player. With the work ethic and determination D.J. has shown thus far, it seems possible that he will make it there. The partial guarantee preserves roster flexibility for the team.

Memphis, this Grizzlies team is looking increasingly fun to root for.
