The Memphis Grizzlies have announced their 2016 Preseason schedule. Let the countdown to (meaningless?) basketball begin!
It won’t be completely meaningless, of course. Between the roster making competition among the likes of D.J. Stephens and Troy Williams, an extended look at new Head Coach David Fizdale at work, a look at Marc Gasol’s recovery from injury progress, and flashes of what Chandler Parsons will do as a key offensive cog, there will be some story lines to keep an eye on as the Grizzlies prepare for the 2016-2017 campaign.
Other things of note about this schedule...
- No international games this season is a bummer. I was really looking forward to a rematch with Maccabi Hafia.
- Because of the missing opponent from overseas, there are only six preseason games this year. The first three are at home, and the last three are away.
- The Grizzlies get a crack at the new-look, Kevin Durant-less Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as 2016 NBA Draft headliners Kris Dunn (Timberwolves) and Ben Simmons (76ers).
The best part of this schedule release? The NBA regular season schedule can’t be far behind. 69 days (#nice) until Memphis Grizzlies basketball returns to the FedExFourm. Get excited!
